Super Icon Pack – 1494 Icons

Posted by Joshua On May - 31 - 2009

floppyHi everyone. I have just completed the “Super Icon Pack” for your downloading and development pleasure.

I have scowered the internets for a while now collecting the best .png icons I could find. I use icons a lot in my site development and I always love having tons of them on hand. The only problem is, most of the packs I have found only have 10-15 icons in them and 2 or 3 that are useable.

I have gone through hundreds of packs and deleted all of the crap, only to be left with the best icons I could find. They are organized by size and are all transparent .png files which makes life very easy. There are 1494 total icons in this super pack.

As a bonus I threw in all of my “Social” icons as well because I know how much we all love to be followed. Below are some examples of the icon styles.

Large Icons (186)

Medium Icons (629)

Mini Icons (505)

Bonus Social Icons, All different sizes (174)

garyveeGary Vay-ner-chuk is one bad ass motherfucker.

You know, I was lucky enough to attend a conference about a year ago in Scottsdale where Gary Vaynerchuk  was the keynote speaker. I think it was the DMM or some shit, I dunno. I just went because the company I was working for at the time offered and I wanted to go hang out and drink. It was pretty much as I expected. Track after track of sessions where people were buzzing about “best practices” and milling around like the good little workers that they were, gathering as many “terms” and “shortcuts” to take back to and dazzle the boss man with. There were also a few very cool people there that I met throughout the few days, but as anyone who knows me will tell you, I made no attempts to hide the fact that I was not impressed with the conference and its overall tone, but I digress. Anyway, so it’s the last day of the conference and we are walking to go see the keynote speaker. Now I had never heard of this dude, much less every heard him speak but let me tell you, it changed something in me.

After a mediocre lunch in which the “team” of people I was working with conveniently  forgot to save me a seat, I found myself at a table of strangers about 9 feet from the stage. Gary Vaynerchuk  took the stage and proceeded to stand in front of a room full of marketers, hundreds of them (all waiting eagerly to hear the latest “buzz words” and be praised for their marketing genius) and tell them right to their faces that they were ALL doing it wrong. He stood up there and told them to fundamentally change the way they run their businesses, to really and truly be transparent and honest and then he gave examples how he does those things to back up his claims. He did this with such passion and such unrelenting vigor that I ended up yelling out something stupid like “I agree” or ‘Fuck Yeah” I don’t remember which, during his speech like someone “testifying” in church, actually if you find the full keynote online you should be able to hear me yelling towards the end. Anyway, the point is this; that son of a bitch Gary Vaynerchuk  gave me hope. He essentially said on stage to this room of people what I had been screaming for years. He had felt the same way I felt about business and running a business and he turned it in to something successful and this gave me the hope that it really could be done.

I have since been following Gary in all his craziness and awesome ideas on Twitter. He seems to be one step ahead of the crowd at all times and while it’s frustrating as hell at times to watch him be so successful, it gives me hope that business does not have to suck the life out of you and everyone around you.

So, Gary is you are reading this (and you should be because I know you pay attention), I had a blast playing poker with ya, even though I lost my ass, and to this day, your Keynote still resonates with me almost every single day.

It’s time to get to work!

Posted by Joshua On May - 30 - 2009

cargoThat’s right all you lazy bastards, it’s time to get to work.

Play time is over. We have a lot of work to do and it’s up to us to make it happen. This country has been hijacked and run straight in to the ground by our last administration. But we spoke up, we said no more and now we have to do the work to make this country worth living in again. It’s not up to Obama, it’s up to us. We have elected a leader that has put the responsibility and onus squarely on us, which is exactly how it should be. It’s we the people, not We the Bush family.

So get off your lazy fat asses, take the FUCKING hogie out of your word hole, put down the FUCKING remote control and DO SOMETHING. Contribute to our society SOMEHOW other than just taking up space, oxygen and resources that could be used for someone who deserves them. Stop blaming other people for the state of affairs and do something about it. Don’t like the tax code? FUCKING work to change it! Don’t like your boss? FUCKING look for another job! Don’t like your neighbor? FUCKING move and stop FUCKING complaining about everything.

We are SICK of listening to you complain. We are sick of your fat lazy asses taking up space in this country. We are SICK of standing in line behind you while you gawk at the picture of the alien craft that landed at the Whitehouse and how to lose those last 5 pounds of baby fat. Just buy your shit and get the fuck out of my way. See, if you had a sense of responsibility or something OTHER to do than stand in line at the fucking piggly wiggly than you would just buy your shit and move on like the rest of us that are trying to get out line so we can go be productive.

in closing, I only have this to say.

If you were offended by this in anyway, then YOU are one of the people that are taking up space and you should do one of two things.

1) Get your life together and realize that you are not special or different in anyway. You are not entitled to anything special because you are black or brown or fat or a girl. Get your head out of your ass and do something that will contribute something back for the resources, space, oxygen and food that you are consuming as you waddle your fat ass across the landscape.

2) Do one selfless act in your life and go jump off a fucking bridge so the rest of us don’t have to bear the burden of your worthless sack of skin.

That is all for now, Have a good day.

Think you’re not to blame?

ceoThe auto industry and our previous administration have effectively FORCED us to pay for cars that we don’t want. How awesome is that.

I do think that as awful as this bailout it, maybe it will teach us all a lesson for the future. Maybe we will pay closer attention to what is going on and maybe we will think twice before everyone rushing out to buy tank sized cars to cart around our 3 snot nosed kids all over town fourteen times a day. Maybe this is a good lesson for us all. Maybe we will change our habits and think more like responsible adults rather than a family of fat southern tourists in line for a fried Twinkie at the county fair.

Unfortunately there will always be those dummies in the world that don’t learn anything, that just keep their heads buried in the sand with a flag in one hand and a bible in the other yelling to themselves that Jesus will make everything alright. Yeah, there will always be those people to enrage the rest of us. It’s too bad really that we don’t all evolve at once. I guess when you really look at it it’s not their faults. I mean I don’t blame rats for being stupid, they just don’t know any better, so I suppose I should not blame the dummies for ruining this country, but I still do.

In closing, I only have this to say.

Don’t be a dummy. Think about things before you act upon them and start thinking as if you live in a community of people, not on an island alone. Remember that we are all in this together, we all only have one shot and no one is any more or less responsible than anyone else for this mess that we are in. It is OUR faults we are here and it will be OUR choice to get out or not.

That is all for now. Have a good day.

Business and Social Media?

transparency

It is 4:00 in the morning and I have already been up for an hour.

I barely slept last night and unfortunately that is nothing new. It is cold in my apartment this morning and my heater is just not able to warm my bones. So as I sit here huddled over my keyboard sipping coffee with desk lamp the only light on in my apartment, I have to some time to think. What I have found myself thinking a lot about lately is social media, “transparency” and business.

There is something that is not sitting right with me about this whole social media thing. How can business, which is by its very nature immoral, secretive, cold and untrustworthy, suddenly be participating in a space where the very foundation is transparency, community, openness and honesty? How can businesses that have screwed over their competitors, fired thousands of people, caused environmental harm, lied to their investors, employed slave labor and have generally had a negative impact on our society now be given the opportunity to trick us again in to thinking that they are all of a sudden “transparent” because they have a twitter account and a facebook page?

What makes you think that the fundamentals of business have changed because it’s now online and suddenly been labeled “transparent”?

Think it cant happen to you?

depression
I am going to be talking again today about getting to work.

The company I work for just recently laid off a Sr. level team member. He was a fantastically smart and talented person and he will be missed. However, this just goes to show that (especially) in this economy, your degree and your pedigree will get you nowhere. It’s about producing results, and results people, takes hard ass work.

It takes coming in early and leaving late.
It takes never saying “That’s not my job”.
It takes stepping outside your comfort zone.
It takes fighting through your “afternoon sleep time”.
it takes discipline.
It takes hard work and a whole lot of it.

You have to want it more than the next guy because believe me there are 1,000’s of other people out there just as talented, just as smart, just as driven, that have the same degree as you that will work more, work for less and do it with a smile because they are just happy to have a job. So, you better keep that in mind the next time you find yourself chatting around the water cooler, or watching youtube, or talking to a friend at length about the new shoes you bought or the date you want on last night. No one cares and believe me you are being watched by the higher ups.

You have to put in 150% every waking second to survive. The days of resting on your degree, pedigree or work history are over. You have to produce results and by that I mean you had better be able to prove to someone that you are valuable enough to keep around when the cold hand of “reorg” comes calling, which it will.

Just to let everyone know, I take my own advice. I have been up since 3:00am this morning preparing for a meeting I have today and doing some other work related things. I am writing this post while I eat my breakfast and I will be leaving for work @ 6:00am even though I am not expected there until 8ish. I will work a full day today no matter how I feel about it. I will put in my 150% and I will do my best to do it with a smile because it is indeed a privilege, not a right, to be working.

In closing I have this to say.

Don’t be stupid. Get your ass out of bed. Fight through your “I’m tired “feelings. Remember you are always being watched and evaluated. And most importantly don’t expect any sympathy if you get put on the chopping block because more than likely it was your own damn fault. Now get to work!

That is all for now, Have a good day.
